Processing Credit Card Payments

How do I process Credit Card Payments?

We can configure your shopping cart, order form or system to accept payment method you would like; including:

‘Real Time’ Credit Card Payments

An Online Payment Gateway allows you to accept credit card payments and processes transactions in ‘real-time’. We can configure your order form or system to send the payment information to your gateway provider who then processes the transaction and sends a response back to your website.

If the transaction is successful then the customer is issued with a receipt or invoice and can be issued immediate access to any downloadable products or restricted access areas on your site (if applicable). With most payment gateways the funds appear in your bank account the following working day.

To use a payment gateway you do need to have a merchant account set-up with your bank which acts as your authorisation to accept credit card payments.

We recommend Camtech (www.camtech.com.au) who are a well established online payment gateway based in Australia. However, we can link your order form or system to the payment gateway of your choice. (Please mention our referral if when contacting Camtech).

Paypal Payments

Paypal offers one of the easiest methods to accept credit cards online. It has a relatively unique offering in that it allows customers to make payment from their bank account, in addition to accepting VISA or MasterCard. Paypal is widely recognised by consumers as a safe way of making payments online. To you as a merchant the main advantages it offers are:

  • World-wide consumer confidence in the Paypal brand
  • No set monthly fees, you only pay a fee per transaction
  • Anyone can use paypal to accept payments, you don’t need a merchant account from a bank.

Paypal is excellent for newly established businesses who may struggle to get approval for a merchant account without any past trading history. It is also an excellent option if you don’t have a high volume of sales, or if your sales are irregular as there is no set monthly fee to pay. If you make frequent sales you may find the transaction fees through Paypal can add up and switching to a real-time payment processor could reduce the amount you pay in transaction fees.

Manual Payment Options

Your order form or system can also accept what we refer to as manual payment options. These options are where you organise the payment with the customer directly

  • Credit Card Payments via EFTPOS
  • Credit Card Payment via Telephone or Fax*
  • Direct Deposit (Bank Transfer)
  • Cheque/Money Order
  • Corporate Accounts

* You would either need an EFTPOS machine, Merchant or Online Payment Gateway account to process credit card orders received by phone or fax.
